Wild Mersey launches trail supporter program.
Kentish and Latrobe Councils are excited to announce that Spreyton Cider Co is the first local business to participate in the new Wild Mersey Trail Supporter Program. In early 2021 Spreyton Cider Co identified a link between their patrons and the new mountain bike trails when there was a noticeable increase in mountain bikes arriving at their Spreyton location. More businesses within Latrobe and Kentish Councils have expressed interest in the program, with discussions underway.
“The trail supporter program will help offset the costs associated with trail maintenance while offering local businesses the opportunity to promote their business to mountain bike riders,” says Kentish Mayor Tim Wilson. Modelled after other successful trail network programs, the Wild Mersey Trail Supporter program offers a variety of levels for selection, with a unique, customisable option.
Individual riders can participate in the trail supporter program with the Weekend Warrior option. For only $100.00 annually, Weekend Warriors will receive an exclusive cap and sticker indicating their contribution, and of course, heaps of good trail karma.
Mayor Peter Freshney of Latrobe Council confirmss that “both Councils are committed to ensuring Wild Mersey’s trails meet the high expectations of riders for years to come. The Wild Mersey Trail Supporter Program has been created to underpin that commitment.” All revenue generated through the Trails Supporter Program will be solely used to maintain the Wild Mersey trail network.
Latrobe and Kentish Councils’ vision for Wild Mersey MTB Trails launched in 2015 to showcase the areas unique wilderness and create a new adventure for locals and tourists alike. Since then, over 50 km of trails have been opened across the three trailheads located in Latrobe, Railton, and Sheffield. The trail network is set to be completed later this year.
