Final stage to get underway
21 March 2020
In exciting news, construction of the third and final stage of the Wild Mersey is about to get underway.
Trailscapes Pty Ltd were awarded the contract to build the remaining 55km+ of trails in the Badgers Range, north of the Sheffield township. The company has had previous involvement with the Wild Mersey, constructing the Railton Express and ever popular Green Hornet descent.
The new section of trails will provide a variety of stacked loop options and ride experiences, catering to riders of all abilities and complete the connection to the existing trails in Railton. Reaching over 500m above sea level the trails will offer scenic views of North West Tasmania and the always impressive Mount Roland. For those seeking more adrenaline pumping trails, over 2kms of black diamond trails will be constructed in an abandoned quarry using existing drop offs and boulders.
The new trails are expected to be completed by September 2021, however Trailscapes will open a number of trails prior to the end of 2020, ready for the summer holiday period.
In other Wild Mersey news, construction of the Sheffield trailhead facilities has commenced and is expected to be completed by June 2020. This facility will provide toilets and showers and another high quality location for riders to chose to start their Wild Mersey experience from.
